In 2005, the Belgian city of “Diest” was spending half a million euros annually to collect and process organic waste. Instead of this exorbitant cost, the municipality decided to try a smart alternative: it distributed more than 6,000 chickens to approximately 2,500 families to treat the problem at its source.

- Producing fresh food: This food is processed internally to produce between 700 and 1,000 fresh eggs annually for the family, straight from the garden to the table.
